A consultant cardiologist in London, he studied medicine at Cambridge University, returned there for a PhD and was a visiting fellow at Yale. He is active in research, training and medical education. He has held director level NHS roles with budgets over £100m, 1500 staff and accountability for finance, performance, governance and outcomes. He launched a pre-Facebook online network for sport and has over 10 years experience in online medical education. In 2015, Asif launched MedShr – the case discussion app and network for doctors – which now has over 250,000 members from 180 countries.
